The Best Will Come at Last

Hope springs eternal, and I love the way every spring the whole city gets behind the Carp in the hope that, "this will be the year"; At least until the first few games are over. This season is a bit special, however, as it is the last to be played in the 51 year old Shimin Kyujyo stadium and the last which will be played downtown.

Perhaps with this in mind, the Carp marketing department have pulled out the stops and gone with a Da Vinci's Last Supper motif with coach Marty Brown as the Jesus himself (sorry, Himself). Perfect for Easter, but I hope things turn out better for the manager than they did for Jesus. Anyone recognise the player in the place of Judas?

Looks like the team had a lot of fun putting it together.

Copies of the A1 size poster will be given out at the games against Hanshin and Yokohama in the first week of April. You can also order a copy from the team's website for ¥800.

The Carp continue their preparations for the new season with a pre-season game against Orix Buffaloes at Shiminkyujyo today from 13:00.

That is brilliant!

They could've worked on the background a bit more though.

It is very good, but I agree with windcheater that the background is not good at all.
Here you have another remake of that image, called by the public "Argentinean last supper"
